Title:Frequency

Launched in May 2021, Frequency is Spotify’s global initiative and holistic destination for celebrating Black art, entertainment, creativity, culture, and community – both on and off our platform. The mission of Frequency is to create a space that represents the wide spectrum of Black artistry.

Title:EQUAL

Also launched back in 2021, EQUAL is a global music program and hub designed to empower and highlight the work of women artists and podcasters. Through EQUAL, we aim to foster equity for women in audio and celebrate their global contributions.

Title:GLOW

GLOW is a global music program celebrating and amplifying LGBTQIA+ artists and creators. It’s our latest initiative to support people of this historically marginalized community of voices and reassert our commitment to equity in audio. It ensures that queer creators, and their contributions to music and culture, are heard and honored year-round.

Title:NextGen

NextGen is Spotify's ongoing program designed to infuse, activate, and grow podcast culture on college campuses and make a career in podcasting more accessible. The program is focused on building opportunities in audio and career pipelines for underrepresented students.

Title:CultureCon Uncut

Spotify Studios partnered with CultureCon Studios to launch CultureCon’s inaugural podcast, CultureCon Uncut. The show unpacks the journeys of Black innovators and entrepreneurs who drive culture to inspire the next generation of world-changing creatives.

Paying it forward

Giving guides all aspects of how we show up in the world.

Our external philanthropy work aligns with our internal work on climate action, mental health & well-being, and equity. Since we launched our giving program in 2020 we've supported non-profits around the world through our employee match program and corporate grant making.

Spotify Gives Back

Spotify Gives Back enables bandmates to contribute to causes they care about and amplify the positive impact of their activities. Through this program, bandmates can support their favorite nonprofit organizations and participate in company-wide community impact activities.

All employee donations are matched via Benevity—a global platform that empowers our giving, grantmaking, and volunteering programs.

The program has three components:

Title:Donations Matching

We match donations made to eligible charities either on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis. Every full and part time employee has the ability to get up to 15k USD in donations matched by Spotify.

Title:Dollars for Doers

Spotifiers who volunteer with eligible organizations earn a donation for their service to the organization.

Title:Impact Day

One paid day a year for each employee to volunteer at a nonprofit of their choice.

Partnering up

We can’t drive meaningful change on our own. That’s why we choose to support partners doing amazing work around the world.

UNICEF & Our Minds Matter

In partnership with UNICEF, we launched the Our Minds Matter hub on Spotify to support youth mental health, including refugees and migrants. Featuring music and talk playlists for sleep, study, and relaxation,the hub also includes the co-created On My Mind podcast

Spotify & Nike

Movement and music are proven to have a profound and positive impact on mental well-being, creating keys to unlock self-expression, confidence and joy. Through this fund, Spotify and Nike are collectively supporting UK based community organisations who came up with innovative and creative, girl-first programme ideas to encourage underrepresented girls aged between 10-17 to get moving through the power of music.

4A's Foundation x Spotify Pulse Fellows

Unleashing the full scope of creative potential at Spotify means giving as many people as possible a seat at the table. That’s why we partnered with the 4A’s Foundation to launch The Spotify PULSE Fellowship. The initiative sees us partner with programs that are already doing great work supporting, developing, and empowering Black creatives like MAIP(Multicultural Advertising Internship Program), D&AD Shift, Marcus Graham Project, ONE School, and our newest program partner, BLAC Internship.
