This role is responsible for negotiating audiobooks licensing agreements with major and independent book publishers. This is a role for an expert business affairs professional who can apply their knowledge of the book industry to craft licensing agreements that advance Spotify’s audiobooks growth plan. The successful candidate will identify licensable catalogs, negotiate economic terms and align with book publishers on the scope of the licensed service and where in the world content will be made available.

What you'll do:
- Act as the day-to-day project manager of Spotify’s 3-year audiobooks content licensing plan, coordinating the execution of the plan between Business Affairs, Legal and related Business Units.
- Identify with Business Unit partners the audiobooks catalogs that are of the most interest to Spotify’s listeners.
- Build and handle a content licensing budget.
- Work with Business Unit partners to enable testing of audiobooks value propositions with consumers.
- Act as the day-to-day leader of Spotify’s commercial relationship with top international book publishers.
- Think creatively to find new ways to secure rights on favorable economic terms while sharing risk between Spotify and our content partners.
- Capture data, analytics and insights from other internal groups to be applied to the development of new initiatives.
Who you are:
- You are a skilled negotiator with a track record of first-chair deal negotiations in the digital books space.
- You must be knowledgeable with the current approaches used to license digital books, including the economic models used in the industry between book publishers and services that provide books to consumers as well as differences in how content is licensed in different countries.
- You have at least five years work experience in the book industry, with a majority of that time spent in business affairs or a similar capacity.
- You have developed a network of contacts in the book industry.
- You are a lifelong learner, a self-starter and someone comfortable with taking sensible risks.
- You have experience handling a budget for content and/or have been responsible for generating revenue from content licensing.
- You have strong analytical skills and the ability to build, iterate and communicate complex financial models.
- You will be a champion of Spotify’s values (Innovative, Collaborative, Sincere, Passionate, Playful) and demonstrate a Growth Mindset.
- You have a BA Degree. An MBA or other higher education is preferred.
- You are willing to travel (at some times extensively) and work across distant time zones.
